About the Destination
Why Charter West Coast South America?
West Coast South America is one of yachting's great adventure destinations. From the extraordinary wildlife of the Galápagos Islands to the pristine wilderness of Chilean Patagonia, the legendary Cape Horn, and the remote Peruvian coast, this is superyacht exploration at its most genuine.
The Galápagos Islands
Charles Darwin's living laboratory — the Galápagos offer wildlife encounters impossible anywhere else on earth. Blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, giant tortoises, sea lions that swim alongside snorkellers, and flightless cormorants. Each island has a different character and unique species assemblage.
Chilean Patagonia
The Patagonian channels stretch from Puerto Montt to Cape Horn — over 1,200 kilometres of pristine fjords, glaciers, and wilderness accessible only by sea. The Beagle Channel, the Gulf of Penas, and the Campo de Hielo icefield are extraordinary natural environments that reward those willing to sail south.
Cape Horn
Rounding Cape Horn is one of sailing's great milestones. The Horn marks the confluence of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and has a mythical status in maritime history. Modern weather routing makes a summer rounding achievable for most well-found yachts.
Weather & Climate
The West Coast South America sailing season is October to March (southern hemisphere summer). Patagonia is best November–February when days are longest and temperatures are most manageable. The Galápagos can be visited year-round but June–November brings the cool Humboldt Current with excellent wildlife and diving. Patagonian weather is notoriously changeable — always expect wind.
